DAILY MAUL: McCain's V.P. Pick Sarah Palin a closet secessionist?

We are shocked - SHOCKED - to report that John McCain's Vice Presidential running mate Sarah Palin has apparently flirted with secession as a member of the A.I.P. (Alaska Independence Party).
Heck, this may be the best thing she's got going for her in our book, other than her "hockey Mom" status.
And it just goes to to show you - secessionists come in all shapes and sizes.
My guess is that the McCain team can't be too happy with this latest revelation (one of many) - but this is only good news for the secession conversation continentally, as most Americans haven't a clue that secession is an integral aspect of our U.S. Constitutional tradition.

There have been a bunch of articles mocking her alleged ties to secessionists and quasi-clarifying her alleged role. Meanwhile 2008 video she made for the Alaska Independence Party convention attendees and 2007 Second North American Secessionist convention comments by the party's chair about Palin has been circulating and even commented upon in publications like the LA times. It's pretty funny to see liberals (and some right wingers) at these pages below yell that Palin's possible support for a vote to allow Alaska to secede is "treasonous." Especially funny since if McCain and Palin are elected and get us in more wars, destroy the economy, outlaw abortion and contraception, arrest dissenters right and left (like they're doing in Minneapolis this week), etc., blue state liberals will be talking up a secessionist storm in no time - especially in Vermont!
